We provide in-person support in your child’s natural environment (e.g. home, preschool, school, or other community setting) in Carrigaline, Cork and close surrounding areas. Our assessments & therapy sessions are neurodiversity-affirming and focus on strengths, functional communication, & meaningful interactions.
ONLINE CONSULTATIONS are available nationwide for those looking to discuss their concerns with a Speech & Language Therapist and get some ideas for practical next steps to support their child. Particularly helpful for parents who are waiting to access SLT supports through the public system and are wanting some tips to get started in the meantime.

A comprehensive, strengths-based assessment to build a full picture of how your child communicates (e.g. how they engage, play, express themselves, understand language, etc.).
Included:
Two in-person assessment sessions (60 minutes each), focusing on:
Case history & parent questionnaire.
Observations.
Play-based communication assessment.
Video analysis (if necessary).
Brief written summary with recommendations provided.

For those who have previously received Speech & Language Therapy input and are looking to begin a new block of sessions.
This assessment allows us to update goals, build rapport, & follow up on previous progress made.
Includes:
One in-person assessment session (60 minutes).
Review of previous therapy report(s).
Brief written summary with recommendations.

A shorter assessment that looks closely at one specific area of your child’s development. This can include:
Speech sound assessment (if appropriate).
Gestalt language sampling.
Understanding of question words.
Meal time observation, etc.
Suited to those who do not need a full initial communication assessment but require professional insight into a particular area.

An evaluation of how your child’s communication is supported in everyday environments (e.g. preschool, school, or community setting).
Focus includes:
What’s working well.
Identifying practical ways to reduce any communication or regulation barriers (e.g. visual supports, adult interaction styles, sensory set-up, etc.).
Included:
One in-person observation session in the environment of your choice (60 minutes).
Brief written summary with recommendations.
Collaborative discussion/feedback shared with your child’s educator/carer (if appropriate).
Visual supports for use at home & school, etc.

Standardized assessments are not currently offered.
At Colourful Communicators, we specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals and young children, where standardized testing is often not the best fit.
Instead, we use a holistic, strengths-based approach that includes family input, observation, and play-based interactions within the child’s everyday environment. This helps us understand their current abilities and identify meaningful next steps.

Therapy works best when the people who spend the most time with the child are part of the process. Parents and educators are encouraged to observe or join in during therapy, so strategies can be easily transferred and used throughout daily routines at home or school in between sessions.

45 minutes per session.
Conducted in-person in your child’s natural environment, alongside your child.
Includes collaborative discussion, modelling of strategies, reflective feedback, & guidance to support communication, engagement, & sensory needs.
Optional video feedback is available to help adults recognize and build on their strengths in a supportive & judgment-free way.
Suitable for parents, caregivers, or educators.

Tailored strategies and activities for adults to work through with their child following a block of direct therapy with the Speech & Language Therapist.
Depending on your child’s stage of development, a home programme may also be suitable in the interim whilst waiting for initial speech & language therapy input. Please get in touch via our contact form to see if this is a suitable option for you.

There is currently no travel fee charged for appointments within Carrigaline.
Our travel fees range from €15 - €30depending on the distance travelled from Carrigaline. This will be confirmed at the time of your booking.
Appointments are currently available in the following areas, and close surrounds: Ballygarvan, Blackrock, Carrigaline, Crosshaven, Douglas, Frankfield, Grange, Mahon, Minane, Monkstown, Passage West, Ringaskiddy, & Rochestown.
Please enquire about availability for appointments further afield (e.g. Ballincollig, Bandon, Bishopstown, Carrigtwohill, Midleton, etc).
Online Advice & Guidance
Available Nationwide

45 minute online advice & guidance session for those awaiting in-person therapy, or looking to support general communication development through engagement & language strategies.
Particularly useful for parents of ‘late talkers’ or those who have recently received an Autism diagnosis.
Includes:
Discussion around your child’s interests and current communication skills.
Sharing of appropriate strategies and activity ideas to aid communication development.
Follow up information handouts will be provided via email following the session.

Charges will apply for appointments cancelled with short notice:
Less than 24 hours notice - 50% of the fee will be charged.
More than 24 hours notice - No fee charged.
For genuine unforeseen cancellations, there is an option to use your session time & full fee for administration purposes or the creation of resources for your child instead. Please request this in advance of your session start time.
Cancelation Policy:
Did you know that some health insurance policies now cover part of the fees associated with accessing speech & language therapy services?
Make sure to check with your insurance provider about your particular policy.
Health Insurance:
If you do not have a health insurance policy that covers speech & language therapy services, consider looking into the Revenue website and options for claiming tax relief for these services through your yearly income tax return. More details can be found here.
